A Runstate project
Employment law you can type into.
Type a salary. Watch the payslip compute itself โ gross to net, line by line, under the statutory rules of a real country. Every line opens into its formula, the actual numbers, and the law it comes from. These are the same law packs that Manta runs payroll on, so anything wrong here is wrong there too. That is the point: a figure nobody can check is a figure nobody should trust.
Playgrounds
Payroll ยท Mauritius
MU-2025-26 ยท MU-2026-27Two statutory years side by side. PAYE over thirteen periods, CSG banded on the contracted basic, NSF against a ceiling that moves every July, and the Rs 635 that changes the total but never the band. Gold chips mark what 2026/27 changed.
Open the Mauritius playground โPayroll ยท Botswana
BW-2025-26The instructive opposite. One statutory deduction โ PAYE โ and nothing else: no social security, no statutory thirteenth cheque, twelve periods instead of thirteen. The Employment Act figures are modelled but badged, because nobody here has read the Act yet.

plannedAccrual, carry-over, notice, severance โ the calculations that actually get argued about when someone leaves. Same shell, same packs, more components.
In the queueWhy two countries make the point
| Mauritius | Botswana | |
|---|---|---|
| Statutory payroll deductions | 3 โ PAYE, CSG, NSF | 1 โ PAYE |
| Employer contributions | CSG, NSF, HRDC levy | none on payroll |
| Annualised over | 13 periods | 12 periods |
| Thirteenth cheque | law (WRA 2019 s.54) | a gift, never an entitlement |
| No-tax line, monthly | Rs 38,462 | P 4,000 |
| Top rate | 35% above Rs 12M/yr | 25% above P 156k/yr |
How it works
One shell, many packs. The interface is a single generic ledger. Everything country-specific โ the figures, their sources, the formulas, the explanations, the presets โ lives in a law pack: a JSON file where every number carries a source and a confidence rating. Adding a country means writing a pack, not writing code. Every pack is public and linkable, so you can read exactly what this page believes: MU-2026-27.json, MU-2025-26.json, BW-2025-26.json.
A figure marked unverified โ check the Act is one we have modelled from a secondary source but not yet confirmed against the statute. It is shown, it is used, and it is labelled โ the playground never pretends to a certainty it does not have. If you know one of them to be wrong, that is the most useful thing you can tell us.
